Mission

Simply Nutritious

This site describes a Way of Living and a Way of Eating that is In Sync with Nature.

It’s mission is to offer information and education about our NATURAL heritage. Learning about Nature’s designs and systems, we can then make informed choices about ways of living and ways of eating that best serve us. Without this information, we live simply as victims to the exponential successes of corporate advertising.

Simply Nutritious advocates a lifestyle that identifies food & movement as medicine and family & friends as necessary supports in nurturing the brilliant, creative and joyful being that is YOU!

What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason!

How infinite in faculties! In form and moving, how express and admirable! In action how like an angel! In apprehension, how like a god!

The beauty of the world! The paragon of animals!

Hamlet, William Shakespeare

The Path

We enter the world as enlightened spirits made flesh. The experience of the material world is often beguiling and deceptive due our human desires and limited vision. Listening to our inner voice is paramount. Yet, what happens when interference is so

loud that we can’t hear it?

Our journey then, is to travel consciously through ‘the mysteries’ in search of connecting once again with our innate wholeness. The reunion is bliss.

The challenge as finite humans is to make decisions that will allow us to return to our infinite divine. How is this possible? It takes a lot of work and it isn’t always easy. There is much joy and suffering, freedom and slavery, lightness and darkness along the path.

Our Guide

We are not alone on our journey. In fact with every step along your way WE ARE GUIDED. Our spirit is strong and speaks to us always. Our answers lie within and are there, if we listen.

Listen. Listen. LISTEN!

Take ‘time outs’ during the day to practice listening. Over time we learn to hear our voice again. It will be loud and clear.

Take the strait and narrow path

And if you start to slide

Give a little whistle, give a little whistle

And always let your conscience be your guide

Jiminy Cricket

A Great Support System

When we feel the need of a bit more help in rebalancing, connect with family or friends.

The best support comes from those who are loving, role models with positive attitudes.

(Warning: Steer clear of anti-role models, especially if they double as family or friends!)

Don’t fight the darkness. Bring the light and darkness will disappear.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Excellent Resources

Nature is our best resource always and especially when one feels out of balance.

This is something that modern cultures seem to neglect. Yet reconnecting with nature’s wonder brings much peace.

We are so early weaned from her [Nature’s] breast to society, to that culture which is exclusively an interaction of man on man.

Henry David Thoreau

Nature connections to include:

· Spending time with yourself (You are your primary resource.)

· Spending time out of doors, breathing fresh air and enjoying the warmth of the sun.

· Playing and exercising out of doors, unpluged from electricity

· Walking or biking to get around

· Hiking and camping in natural settings

· Growing plants for food or enjoyment

· Cultivating relationships, old and new

· Rising and retiring with the sun

I go to nature to be soothed and healed,

and to have my senses put in tune once more.

John Burroughs

The Right Place and Right onTime

There are no mistakes in ‘Earth School’. In fact, what might look like a mistake or a tragedy is merely an opportunity to gain strength and wisdom. Life is best when we remember to focus on ‘bringing the light.’ Optimism serves well in keeping us moving and progressing forward. We are in the right place. We are right on time. Our part in the larger picture is paramount. Our biggest job is to LOVE OURSELVES, intensely.

In your life expect some trouble.

But when you worry you make it double

Don’t worry, be happy……

Don’t worry don’t do it, be happy……

Put a smile on your face

Don’t bring everybody down like this

Don’t worry, it will soon past, whatever it is

Don’t worry, be happy

Bobby McFerrin

Naturalist

Sandi Rechenmacher

A Naturalist (and entertainer), Sandi delights in outdoor education/ life science and inspires ‘naturally good lifestyling,’ living, loving and laughing. Sensing a deep connection with nature from early on (Green has been her favorite color forever!), it’s no mystery that she loves growing, cooking and eating food. As a kindergartener, Sandi nurtured her pumpkin seedling to a burgeoning plant that yielded 8 pumpkins. She married a man with two green thumbs and ever since has been growing gardens that have fed her family and friends. Cooking natural foods became a huge focus especially as a holistic parent. Sandi’s innovative, kitchen adventures helped raise three children to become creative, natural chefs.

Since eating is something she does on a daily basis, Sandi aspires to eating ‘nutrient rich,’ in other words, putting the ‘best fuel in one’s gas tank.’ Eating within nature’s guidelines yields an enjoyable life experience that bypasses crippling, painful and lengthy battles with disease and helps one realize her/his full potential. Illness prevention, intervention, and weight-loss are her specialties. Learn More? Sandi consults privately, offers classes (art classes too), workshops and presentations throughout the Santa Cruz County and Bay Area.

Sandi is a California, credentialed teacher (University of California) and certificated

Holistic Health Practitioner, Nutritional Consultant, and Master Herbalist (Global College

of Natural Medicine).

One of her favorite recipes is Popeye’s Sweet Pea Soup that her mother makes with lots of love and fresh greenness!
